a. Setup
Deuce Gambit can be played with:
-
Any normal deck of 52 playing cards, plus 2 Jokers and 2 miscellaneous cards used as additional Jokers
-
The official Deuce Gambit Printed Deck to be released soon
The game uses up to four [JOKER] cards:
-
JOKER 1
-
JOKER 2
-
JOKER 3
-
JOKER 4
Each [JOKER] has two functions:
-
It is a playable wild card.
-
It determines drafting order and gameplay starting order.
The [JOKER] cards are part of the players’ 13-card hands and remain playable during the game.
For games with fewer than 4 players, use the number of [JOKER] cards equal to the number of players.
Example:
-
2-player game: use JOKER 1 and JOKER 2
-
3-player game: use JOKER 1, JOKER 2, and JOKER 3
-
4-player game: use JOKER 1, JOKER 2, JOKER 3, and JOKER 4
b. Open Cards
Deuce Gambit is an open-card game.
Once cards are dealt, all cards remain face-up and visible to all players throughout the game.
There is no hidden hand. Players win by reading the board, planning ahead, blocking threats, and choosing the right moment to strike.
c. Timer
Each player has a fixed amount of thinking time, for example 5 minutes.
A player’s timer runs only when it is their turn to draft or play.
Once the player drafts, plays, or passes, their timer pauses and the next player’s timer begins.
